episode 4.17 discussion

aka 'the episode in which Bane is a useless pile of shit.'

I'll start by saying I liked the episode A LOT more than I thought I would. The "Box" was horrifying beyond all reason and ditto the way those bounty hunters died. I was a little bummed out they killed off the Rodian, I wanted to see more of him.

Some of my favorite scenes:

"Nice hat."

MWWAAHAHA I'M THE MOST EVIL MOTHERFUCKER HERE

I love when Bane does over-reactive type shit. Killing someone over a hat. It just makes him seem even more crazy, I love it

And then THIS scene:

"I got'chu, bro!"

After my adrenaline wore off over what a brotastic scene this was between these two, I guess I realized it was a little OOC of Bane. Doesn't mean I still didn't think it was sweet <3

Overall, I liked the episode. Bane did jackshit and he STILL managed to get chosen to lead the kidnapping. Just goes to show what a BAMF he really is.

The Box was p. much one big psychological horror for me, idek why. The deaths were pretty brutal (for a kids show; we've come a long way from 10 years ago), that's for sure. D; For something I expected to be filler, that was an overall solid episode, if not in my top 5 for the season.

Gotta admit, dad and I were like "=O Iiiiiiiiiiiinteresting" when Bane rescued Obi-Wan. "If you're gonna kill someone, do it like a man!" wow. As surprising as it it was, that was one of the highlight moments, mostly because it was unexpected. I wonder, if they're still doing episode commentary, Dave or whoever has to say about that one.

I think Bane only got chosen because of Rako/Obi-Wan's reluctance to kill in cold blood. Took a couple viewings of the last few minutes for me to pick up on that. But yeah, he did nothing and reaped the benefits. GOOD JOB, SON.

And LMAO about that hat. I have a feeling there's a story behind how the Ithorian got it, because that HAD to be Bane's hat.

Cad Bane: He shot a man on Serenno just to watch him die steal his hat.

I was wondering what ulterior motive he might have had in saving Obi-Wan like that... but maybe we've actually hit a standard here.

My sentiments exactly, pretty much. I kept getting 1984 flashbacks with all the big faces on the screens, or at least the ep. of Futurama when Leela was going crazy. I'unno. Anyway, it was still awesome. Agreeing on that "do it like a man!" line; I have no idea why that stands out or why it's awesome, but it is. 'Nuff said, really. And Bane got his hat back! All is right with the universe. Really? How many dusty-brown hats with a grey wrap on the crown. But really, I'm just watching Bane the first time I watch the episode and later go back to watch the story, characters, all that other stuff.
